This is the first in our series of Get The Label brand focus blog posts - we're going to delve into the history of some of our best loved brands and tell you a a bit about where they've come from and how they got to where they are now (in your wardrobes!)
First up...well it's got to be Adidas hasn't it, surely the biggest sports brand in the world?
Most people know that the name Adidas (do you pronounce it ADI-das or ad-e-DASS?)came from the name of the company founder Adolf (Adi) Dassler. But did you know he was one of the first people to experiment with studs in sports shoes, for better performance?
Adi wanted to create footwear which was perfect for athletes in all kind of disciplines and he made his first shoe in 1920, aged 20. From their he kept striving for perfection and 1928 his shoes were used in the Olympic Games in Amsterdam.
It wasn't until 1948 that Adidas was registered as the company name and a year later the iconic three stripes logo was registered too, it was all starting to fall into place.
The big break for Adidas came in 1954 when Germany won the World Cup wearing boots with screw in studs, designed by Adi and his team. Good endorsement or what?
From here on the popularity of Adidas grew and grew. Adi became one of the first people to promote his sports shoes using famous sporting figures, such as Jesse Owens, Muhammed Ali and Franz Beckenbauer.
It was only in the 1960s that Adidas began producing sportswear and apparel and (here's an interesting fact for you) since 1970 the Official Matchball at all major football events has been an Adidas product.
Since then Adidas has changed and adapted its product to suit an ever developing consumer and has become the label that we all love. Have you seen Liz's post about the new Adidas Originals advert? It's brilliant! For a more detailed look at the history of Adidas, visit the Adidas website.
If this is got you in the mood for browsing Adidas clothes, just type 'Adidas' into the 'Quick Search' bar at the top of the Get The Label site and see what we've got!
Some of my faves at the moment are these Adidas Originals Superstar II Trainers - reduced from £59.99 to £29.99
I also love this Adidas Originals D Sleek Trefoil Hooded Sweat, it's now £24.99 instead of £49.99 and it looks so cosy!
Lastly I really like this Adidas CF OH men's hoody - clean and simple but still looks great! And it's reduced in price from £39.99 to £14.99.
Bring on the Bank Holiday weekend I say!!! Invited all my friends and family, and we're going to have a blow-out barbie to welcome in the summer!! Got the food planned, got the drinks ordered, so now just need to decide what to wear!! So of course, i've browsed my favourite website www.getthelabel.com to find the perfect outfit which won't burn a hole in my wallet!!
So, I saw this Firetrap Avilaf Tie Top and had to have it! Obviously the sun is going to shine all weekend, and this top will look great in the sunshine. Yellow is also bang on trend this summer - so my girlfriends will be impressed too!!
I was thinking about wearing shorts this weekend but my legs aren't quite summer ready so I'm compromising and going for these gorgeous white Firetrap Quincy Krop's. Will look great for the BBQ, and I can wear them afterwards with a sparkley top and killer heels for a drink with the girls.
Now if you're anything like me, you'll have find memories of "Jelly" shoes - I used to wear them all summer when I was a kid!! So when I came accross these Jelly Gladiator sandals I had to have them!!! Not only do they bring a smile to my face but they are one of the hottest shoe styles for summer! I know all the girls will be dying to know where I got them from - so you'd best buy yours now before they sell out!!
Finally, knowing my friends and family the BBQ will be going on late, so i'll need a cover-up to keep me warm when the cool evening sets in. This Bench Slip Up Jacket in white is just the thing I need - great styling but cosy too. I'll look hot long after the sun has gone down!!!!
Shopping online is brilliant isn't it? You can do it from the comfort of your own home - no need to worry about queues or adverse weather conditions. Items are easy to find and compare and you can try them on in the comfort of your own home. Brilliant!
More and more British consumers are doing their clothes shopping online and why not? You get a great experience and often save a packet too. According to article 'Yes, you really can save a fortune shopping online' on the Daily Mail website, shopping online not only saves you time but money. That's something we know all about at Get The Label - just take a look at our fantastic designer discounts - you can save up to 75% on RRP with us - and if you check out our sale some items have an 88% discount!
I also caught sight of news from Drapers, the fashion business specialist, that online fashion sales are up 28% from this time last year, which means more people are getting clued up to the great bargains they can find online. I think this trend will just continue to grow and grow - especially when you've got great labels and affordable prices like we have!
So if you're not already a dedicated online shopper, why not give it a go? We're sure we'll have you converted in no time!
So last weekend saw the start of festival season with the all-American celebrity fest which is Coachella. Highlights of the Californian weekend included Jay-Z, Gorillaz, La Roux, and The Specials - and of course the blazing sunshine!! What was the over-riding theme for the weekend though? Black, black and more black! Jay-Z kicked off the weekend in head to toe black, including leather jacket, and the crowd was loving it - so the way forward for male wardrobes this summer is obviously the female favourite! Head to toe in slimming black.
Kick off the black fest with a very wearable leather look jacket like Henleys Solveig Hooded Jacket. Easy to throw on with jeans or trousers, and lightweight enough to carry you through spring & summer, but just as good in winter with your knits.
Lighten up the outfit a bit with some detailing on your t-shirt, like the diamante detailing on Voi Jeans Diamand Fatal T-shirt. Will look fab in the summer sunshine, or under the club lights. A sparkling investment!!
Every denim wardrobe should contain a pair of black jeans and these Quicksilver T-saber Jeans are perfect. Great festival wear with t-shirts or vests, or dress them up for night with a shirt. Stay all black for a chic look, or wear with colour to really make them pop.
Finally a pair of black trainers like these Adidas Originals Goodyear Street Trainer are essential. Standing on your feet all weekend listening to such greats as La Roux and the Gorillaz, means you need to be comfy - and these are comfy yet stylish at the same time.
So there it is, your festival wardrobe sorted.
With the May bank holidays coming up, it's time to stock up on some summer clothing and revive your wardrobe. Getthelabel.com is currently running a massive mid-season sale with up to 75% off!

Another designer bargain is this Fly53 T-shirt for just £7.99.

And if you want to jump on the colour block trend then these Firetrap coloured jeans are perfect for just £9.99 reduced from £54.99!

Well spring has most definately arrived, and we here at www.getthelabel.com have been busy discussing the trends for the season, and how to best update our wardrobes - and so to help you decide what to wear now the weather is turning warmer, here are my top six picks for the perfect spring wardrobe:
SHORTS
Shorts are definately the bottoms of choice this spring - they were seen in all shapes and sizes on the catwalks which is always a good thing because it means you can choose a style that suits you and still be fashionable. My short wardrobe staple has to be the denim short, as it is popular year after year - so my top pick for shorts is the Bench Dot Short. I love the pockets on the front - they're so cute and look so different from other denim shorts i've seen, and the distressed effect is really fab too - makes them look like a pair of well-loved jeans that you've cut down to make the perfect short!
UTILITY JACKET
The Utility jacket is a key look for spring as it picks up on the sportswear trend, and makes a great cover-up for those days when you never know if it will be sunny or chilly!! My top pick is the Levis Women's 3 Pocket Blouson as its a gorgeous stone colour, which will go with anything. The pockets are a great utility detail, and the fact that it is 100% cotton means it will be easy to wash and wear too! Perfect.
CROPPED PANTS
Again, cropped trousers were all over the runways which makes them a spring essential for me!! I'm a real jeans girl, so the cropped jean is always a good bet for me as I think its so versatile and easy to style up or down. My current favourite is the Firetrap Quincy Crop. White jeans always look good in the sun, and really make colours pop so they will look great with all the bright shades around this spring. And of course, you can dress them up at night with sequins and sparkle!
PERFECT TEE
No spring wardrobe would be complete without the perfect tee, and for me it has to be the Henleys Tube T-shirt in black and white. Nautical stripes are everywhere every spring, and this black & white version is just that little bit different from the usual - I especially like the pink logo print on the front. The length is great too - wear over leggings, cropped jeans or shorts - or underneath your jumpsuit for a different look!
METALLIC SANDALS
Metallics were a strong theme on many of the catwalks and the easiest way to nod to this trend is on your feet!! A pair of metallic sandals instantly update any outift - but make sure you pair them with a fab pedi!! My favourite pair of metallic sandals are the Morgan Angel Sandal in Bronze. Fab colour which looks great with pale or tanned feet - and the cute diamante heart detail looks great for day or night.
BRIGHT SHOPPER BAG
Nothing screams out that summer is on the way more than a fab beach bag, and my choice would have to be the Gio Goi Photographic Shopper. Cool enough to use every day, and big enough to carry all your belongings to the beach, and the fact that it's cotton mean it should be easy to clean. What more can you want?
So that's it - my top six tips for spring. Now get shopping!!!

As louise pointed out in her great blog post Denim Days, the catwalks were all about denim and even double denim for spring/summer 2010. Now I may not follow the catwalks as closely as Louise, but I can tell you that jeans are one of our best sellers for women and men - labels like Jack Jones, Voi, Henleys, Levis and Miss Sixty just fly off the shelves!
We have some great denim offers on this week and due to their popularity I don't expect them to be around for long!
For women we've got these great Levis Womens Slimmer Straight Fit 470 Hard Torre jeans, reduced by a massive £35 to £39.99.
For something for the nighttime, try Apple Bottoms' Chakka jeans, which have been reduced from £74.99 to £29.99 - making them very affordable.
Over to the men and we have Voi Wired jeans for just £24.99, making a £30 saving and looking very stylish with it!
Duck and Cover Gold jeans in dark blue (don't worry, they're not actually gold) are a great fit and reduced from £69.99 to £34.99 - surely you can't go wrong with those prices!
Don't forget we now deliver on Saturday's!
Happy denim shopping!
So this Thursday sees the start of The US Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club - and all eyes are on the showdown between the newly returned to form Ernie Els and the disgraced Tiger Woods. Well, all eyes except mine because i'm more interested in what they're wearing than how they're playing!! I've always thought Golfers have a great kit - it's that smart casual look that most men find hard to do!! The great thing is that here at getthelabel.com we've got lots of golfing attire, so if you're a serious golfer or a part-time player we're bound to have something to suit.
An essential item of a golfers clothing has to be the polo shirt and this Pringle men's Golf polo shirt in Yellow has all the qualities needed:
100% cotton to keep you cool and comfortable, and a great fit to ensure it doesn't interfere with your swing! Of course, Pringle has been making golfwear since the 1930s so they should know what they're doing by now!!! Interestingly enough, Pringle sponsered Tony Jacklin in the 70s when he won both the open and the US Open, the first British Golfer to do so - so keep your eye on whoever is wearing Pringle of Scotland in the US Open this year, they could be the one to watch!!!
The way the weather is at the moment, its probably a good idea to wear a jumper over your polo shirt, and we've managed to get hold of a great Ashworth Golf Lined Wind Jumper:
Ashworth is a newcomer in the golf clothing market compared to Pringle, as Ashworth was only founded in California in 1987 , but it must be doing something right as it was acquired by Taylormade-adidas golf two years ago. The Wind Lined jumper is a great example of how well they know what golfers need though, as it is lightweight yet warm. The good thing is its not overly golf styled, so you could wear it everyday as well.
Another essential piece of golfing kit is the waterproof jacket - and yet again Pringle rises to the occasion with the Pringle Golf Aengus Waterproof Jacket:
It's lightweight, waterproof, windproof and breathable -and it has detachable sleeves which gives you more comfort options. If the weather is really bad, pair it with some Pringle Golf Scotty Pants:
So there you go - your golfing wardrobe is sorted!! Now all you need to worry about is who to put your money on on Thursday!!
While watching the TV last night, something made me stop dead in my tracks. Lasting just one minute long and featuring an endless list of celebrities is the amazing new Adidas Originals commercial.
Mapped out like a party I wish I'd been invited too, sporting legend David Beckham pops up taking pictures on his camera while Snoop Dogg and N-Dubz rap and Noel Gallagher gets the party started. You've also got appearances from Ciara, Agyness Deyn, Whitney Port, Mr Hudson and the list goes on and on. They're all dressed top to toe in Adidas Originals and they all look fantastic.
Check it out:
If you want to look as great as Beckham or Whitney then take a look at our range of discount Adidas Originals footwear and clothing. Take this Adidas Originals Flock Recycle jacket in grey for example, its just £29.99 saving you a massive £40, meaning it doesn't have to cost a fortune to make you look great.
Another great discount designer buy is this Adidas Originals Trefoil hoodie which is in the Get The Label Sale. It's just £14.99 (RRP £44.99) and is a great cover-up to wear while the English weather threatens to kick in!
So, we’re all looking forward to the great long weekend this weekend – and its Easter too so there’s chocolate to look forward to on Sunday!!! I don’t know about you but my wardrobe tends to be influenced by what’s going on around me, so this weekend I’m feeling yellow because to me it’s the colour of Spring and Easter!! Great thing is, here at getthelabel.com I’ve got lots of things to choose from to brighten up my Easter weekend wardrobe.
My first choice is this gorgeous Henleys Tamsin Side Button T-shirt in sunshine yellow – guaranteed to bring a smile to anyone’s face! I love the glittery Henleys Luxury logo too - really makes it stand out from the crowd.
Because I don’t know what the weather is going to be doing, I’m going to play it safe and team it with a Henleys Rodders Hoody in egg yolk yellow – the colour is perfect for my Easter theme, and the pink and blue detailing tie in with this summer’s bright trend too.
I’m not brave enough to do yellow head to toe – even I don’t feel that full of the joys of spring – so I’ve plumped for these Bench Knotty Ash jeans. The dark blue is perfect to make the yellow pop, and they’re a boyfriend shape which again is a key shape this season. I’m going to wear mine rolled up to show off my fab new trainers!!
Speaking of new trainers – here’s my latest purchase:
Yes they’re yellow!! Surprise, surprise!! But in my defence they are Adidas Originals Superstar II so they do have an element of cool about them too. And besides, yellow is my favourite colour!!
So there you have it – I’m all set for the Easter weekend – bring on the Chocolate!!
Get The Label only launched last year so we're still trying new things and finding out what works best for our customers.

Next up is this fantastic ONLY designer bargain dress for just £1.99 - saving you a huge £23. Get The Label has it in both purple/blue and pink/grey colour versions and is just the bargain you need to kick off Easter in style.
