Now as cool as a musical battle between Jay-Z and Nelly would be, I'm actually talking about the battle they have going on at getthelabel.com – with their clothing brands Rocawear (Jay-Z) and Apple Bottoms (Nelly) slugging it out to be the best selling brand!!
Rocawear is all about being street savvy and hip – like Jay-Z - and what better way to show this than with a fab hooded top and matching sweats?
This fab white hood zip sweat is just the thing to throw on on a Saturday morning to take the kids to the park – easy to wear, but looks great with the gold detailing!! All the other mums will be jealous!
The matching pants are ace too – the cuff detail at the bottom means they look great worn with your sheepskin boots, or push them up to knee level and slap on your killer heels and you will look like you just stepped off a spring/summer 2010 catwalk!!
Another great Rocawear buy is this fab t-shirt with gold stud detailing – very now! And at only £8.99 you could buy the white version too!!
Apple Bottom on the other hand is all about the jeans!! I've just ordered myself a pair to see if they make me have an Apple Bottom :-) The best thing about them is the logo on the back pockets – it's a real talking point with all my friends.
Like their rivals Rocawear, Apple Bottom also do comfy yet classy sweat pants. These white ones are great – and have a cool apple bottom logo with diamante sparkle down one leg. Very hip hop!
I'm always looking for great t-shirts to update my wardrobe, and I personally think Apple Bottom's have got the edge over Rocawear purely on a colour basis! Yellow is the colour for spring – so this t-shirt is an easy way for me to add a shot of colour to my wardrobe.
And of course no cool hip-hop outfit would be complete without a hoody! And Apple Bottom, like Rocawear, do some cool ones. My personal favourite is this orange and pink one with diamantes down the front. I especially like the puff sleeves – very trendy!
So, at the end of the day having weighed everything up, I'm afraid Nelly's label Apple Bottoms is the choice for me. But what do you think? Are you a Rocawear or Apple Bottom fan?
So the big news in the world of Fashion this week is that Harvey Nichols London has dedicated a whole wall on its fashion floor to women's trainers!! They've finally realised that trainers aren't just something you wear down the gym – they can actually be a fashion statement too. Of course, they've got trainers by Lanvin, Christian Laboutin and Beatrix Ong but here at Getthelabel.com we're very proud of our trainer selection too! We think there's something for the fashion lover and the serious trainer fanatic. Key to making sure you get the right trainer for this spring's sports luxe look is to make sure that there is a little bit of different detailing on e.g. exotic skins or studs. Here's my selection of the hottest trainers this week:
These fab silver Nike Court Tradition 2 trainers tick all the boxes. Metallic's are hot this season, and this fab silver leather will look stunning with dark denim. They'll also look great in the summer with shorts and tanned legs!!
These Babycham Fun Rain Appliqué sneakers are cute too. Picking up on the trend for low top sneakers, and loads of fun with the patterned embroidery and different coloured eyelets! Best thing is with so many colours to pick from, you can wear them with anything!
As Liz said in her post a couple of weeks ago, yellow is a strong trend this spring, so why not show off in these Adidas Originals Superstar II. Great for getting around in, and everyone will know that you've got your finger on the fashion pulse!
Alternatively you could join in with the Utility trend and wear these Nike Capri Canvas Lace Up trainers. Again these would look great with denim, or with combats – which are due to make a return to popularity shortly!
And if the kids want to get in on the act – what better way than this Reebok Freestyle Hi trainer? Picks up on both the 1980s trend, and the floral trend, and its pink!! What more could any little girl want?
Ahoy there sailor, it's time to dress up all nautical in discount designer deals!
Now it's the turn of one of my favourite trends…nautical! Why is it my favourite you ask? Well, it's easy peasy and I think it suits everyone.
Key colours for this naval officer/pirate trend are navy, black, white, gold and red. You can also go a bit silly with accessories - anchors on necklaces, neckties and bags, big sparkly rings and chunky gold bangles.
Your starting point for a great nautical themed outfit should be a stripey top, like this blue and white striped Barnaby vest from Firetrap which is also available in red and white - just choose the most flattering colour on you, or - since they're only £9.99 - choose both!
Next up decide what you'd like on your bottom half - if the weather isn't too bad try a denim skirt, or for a night out choose this Lipsy black tulip mini skirt, which costs just £12.99.
Another great nighttime 'sailor' look is this Rare Tulip Curve dress in white which is just £9.99!! Team it with a stripey blue and white cardigan and a pair of Firetrap peep toe red heels to look fantastic!
For a daytime look, especially when the weather is a bit chilly try these dark blue Henley's Dimk jeans which are just £24.99 (that's £40 off the RRP!). This Apple Bottoms military jacket fits in perfectly with the nautical trend with its big gold buttons and cropped length. With a price of just £24.99 - saving you a massive £45 - it'd be rude not to!
